Summary of Results
The Florida Public Officials Design Institute convened on April 24-25, 2003. In addition to the Public Officials above, ten design experts volunteered their time and alent in the 10-hour problem-solving session that provided recommendations for the complex issues brought to the Design Institute by the public officials. These issues included: redevelopment of a 140-acre site and adjoining landfill; developing a 400-acre tract of unused land into a mixed use, “Main Street” project; tackling the issues of sustaining a city’s growth pattern of “low rise, low density”; and, transforming a city’s downtown to a place of distinction and civic pride.
